The series 63 exam is also called the Uniform Securities State Law Examination which was developed by the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) with the cooperation of representatives from securities and industry association. The series 63 test is administered by the Financial Industry regulatory Association (FINRA).
The test covers knowledge of the principles of the state securities regulation procedures in line with the Uniform Securities Act (including adopted amendments by NASAA and rules on ethical business practices).
Exam Format
Candidates are given a total of 75 minutes to complete the entire examination. Only 60 out of the 65 test questions count toward the final total score. The remaining 5 questions are part of pre-test questions that can possibly be added to the question bank of future tests. The 5 pre-test questions are scattered among the 65 questions. To pass the series 63 test, candidates must attain at least 70%. Only correct answers are scored and wrong answers are not penalized.
The series 63 exam is a closed-book test and no research material of any kind is allowed. If a candidate requires scratch paper it would be provided by the exam proctor.
